Narrative Text (5)


1. Description of narrative writing
Text Narrative is one of text that was born on the English language among the Narration. The function is to tell the story of the past and for entertainment. The purpose of Narrative text is to entertain listeners or readers on a story or stories related to the past experience of the real, imaginary or complicated events that lead to a crisis, which eventually came to a solution. A narrative is a story that you write or tell to someone, usually in great detail. A narrative can be a work of poetry or prose, or even song, theater, or dance. Often a narrative is meant to include the "whole story." A summary will give a few key details and then the narrative will delve into the details. "I hate to interrupt your narrative," is a polite way of stopping someone in the middle of a story. The origin of this noun is the Latin adjective narrativus, from narrare "to tell," from gnarus "knowing." It is related to our English verb know. Narrative text includes novels, short stories, legends, folklore, and the like.
The Generic Structure of Narrative Text
Orientation             : Introducing the participants and informing the time and the place
Complication          : Describing the rising crises which the participants have to do with
Resolution              : Showing the way of participant to solve the crises, better or worse
Re-orientation         : Optinal
Evaluation              : A stepping back to evaluate the plight

The Language Feature of Narrative Text:
Using processes verbs
Using temporal conjunction
Using Simple Past Tense

How to differ from other writing genres
That differentiate narrative writing from other writing genres are some characteristic of narrative text. In narrative text using the Action Verb in the Past Tense form. For example: climbed, Turned, Brought, etc. Using specific nouns as a personal pronoun, certain animals and objects in the story. For example: the king, the queen, and so on. Using adjectives which form the noun phrase. For example: long black hair, two red apples, etc. Using connectives and Conjunctions Time to sort events. For example: then, before, after, soon, etc. Using Adverbs and adverbial Phrase to indicate the location of the incident or event. For example: here, in the mountain, happily ever after, and so on.

2. Steps how to make a narrative writing
Narrative writing  relates a clear sequence of events that occurs over time. Both what happens and the order in which the events occur are communicated to the reader. Effective narration requires a writer to give a clear sequence of events (fictional or non-fictional) and to provide elaboration. To make narrative writing, there are some steps:
1. Determine the main character (the main characters). The main character in the form of an animal or human can be customizable.
2. Determine the characters and the time and place it happened (orientation). Example : When I studied in senior high scholl, 3rd grade, I followed learning course in one of learning course in Metro to prepared the national exam with my friend, her name is Shella, but she studied at different schools with me, I 've been friends with her since childhood, a lot of things that we have spent together. She is very kind and always spirited. I also got new friends when I followed learning course, they were very kind and friendly. I love it. And finally it was time for the national exam, all of the students in my school attended a prayer together for the smoothness of the national exam, and I was grateful, all the national exam I could done well. Nevertheless, I still got scared when waiting for graduation announcements. When graduation announcements, me and all the students lined up on the ground basketball to listened announcement and then we all went to class. In class all look anxiously awaiting the results of a national exam which will be given to us, when the results of national exam in shared, me and my friends prayed together before we opened the envelope that containing the the results of the national examinations. And the result was very satisfy, me and my friends pass from national examination, we were very happy, but one of my friends who did not pass, he did not school at the time of the announcement, maybe he have given out about it by our teachers, so we gave he support from short message. Me and my friend, Shella, not just followed learning course to prepared national exam but we also followed learning course to prepared national college entrance selection, many of my friends who were also followed learning course  in there, when learning course I got many new friends and my new friends have different character, my new friend that still remain friends with me is Tiwi, Elsa and Ambar.
3. Determine the issues to be faced by the main character (complication). Problems encountered can be more than one problem. Example : We followed learning course to prepared national college entrance selection with spirit and confidence to got the State University that we want. Already one month me and my friends followed learning course, and it was time to test the actual national college entrance selection, I tried to work matter of national college entrance selection with well, and finally I have done all matter of national college entrance selection. Me and my friends just could wait the announcement of the results national college entrance selection with prayed.
4. Determine the solution of problems faced main character (resolution). Example : eventually I registered in the Muhammadiyah University of Metro majoring in English education , and I was glad can pass test in Muhammadiyah University of Metro after I followed the written test and interview.
5. Determine the end of the story (reorientation). Example: When the announcement, my friends saw the announcement on the Internet, and we asked each other via short message, pass or not and it turns out my friend, Elsa, pass and entered Unila, I was sure he was very happy. And I was very sad when Shella said to me if I did not pass, because Shella saw my result. And when I saw the announcement of the results, I was very sad and it was a failure for me to made my parents proud with me, because I did not pass national college entrance selection and could not got the state university that I want . I thought, if I 've spent a lot of money to followed learning course and another but I did not pass, I was very disappointed with myself and I was embarrassed with my parents
6. Determine the moral massage in the text if there. Example: but it did not make me give up to continue my study, and eventually I registered in the Muhammadiyah University of Metro majoring in English education , and I was glad can pass test in Muhammadiyah University of Metro after I followed the written test and interview. My friends, Tiwi and Shella, also entered in the Muhammadiyah University of Metro but with different majors with me. I got a lot of lessons from the my failure experienced, failure for me is delayed success, failure is the state or condition of not meeting desirable or intended objective , and may be viewed as the opposite of success. I thought, will be better I got failure at the beginning so that in the end, I was able to got a good job easily and I could made my parents happy.

My Failure

Note    : The green colour is topic sentence because introduce the main idea of the      paragraph and that captures the meaning of the entire paragraph or group of sentences.
